What did I learn from this experience?

Writing the screenplay for "As One Door Closes" was an incredible creative challenge as it was the first time I had the opportunity to adapt a story concept (pitched by the director, Jazmine Burkett) into a script. I loved getting to participate in a more collaborative process, since writing is often a solitary effort.

What’s this story about?

Sometimes where we love means just as much as who we love. Standing in Silverlake began as a film school project and evolved into a fully realized short film. Inspired by the styles of Dogma 95 and the French New Wave, the camera follows a young poet who is taken on a journey of memories and a touch of magic through the Los Feliz and Silverlake neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Where it leads him is just as important as who it leads him to.
